Described as paradise by Christopher Columbus, the Vega Reál is one of the most fertile valleys in the Dominican Republic. Translated as “Royal Meadow,” this lush, tropical garden found in the mountain highlands nurtures the finest cacao plants. The earthy-toned beans are harvested at the peak of freshness and then crafted to reveal a luxurious, complex flavor that hints of red berries and dark spice with a wonderful cocoa aroma. These incredible natural flavors come to life when you brew a cup of Vega Reál, made from 100% pure, perfectly roasted cocoa beans.

Vega Real promises a tasty wake up every morning. I steep mine for 10-15 minutes in my single serve coffee maker. 2 scoops per 9 oz of water gives a rich chocolate experience. I add a touch of coconut sugar. (I have tried cane sugar, raw sugar, honey, stevia and agave, but the coconut sugar flavor goes best with vega real). I purchase the 5 pound bag and it lasts me just over 3 months. I LOVE my Crio Bru!!

This is two reviews - wife and husband
Bought the Shark Tank special and then saw on the internet there are other competitors plus websites on how to make and brew your own cocoa beans. Had to buy gold filter for Mr. Coffee and do a lot of experimenting to get it to taste like dark chocolate. Finally bought a 32 ounce French press which is easier to get the taste right. Original order was Vega Real and Maya, 2nd order we got Coco River, Cavalla and more Vega Real.
Prior to buying this product my wife was mixing hot cocoa with instant coffee to cut down on the caffeine and wean off brewed coffee. She would only have this in the morning so caffeine would not interfere with sleep. She has worked out that any flavor is good with 8 TBSP Crio Bru and 24 ounces of water. My wife drinks Crio Bru every day and at this time she will continue to buy and keep experimenting with the various flavors.
The Crio Bru whether with 1 or 2 TBSP to 6 ounces of water doesn't do anything for me. I like the smell of the beans in the package but I would prefer to buy a dark chocolate bar of 60 to 72% if I need a chocolate fix. My drink of choice is plain tap water. If I need variety I add a slice of lime or mint leaves. Occasionally if I need something with caffeine I use Celestial Seasons Morning Thunder Tea or a small black coffee from McDonalds usually both only in the morning. I have also tried various flavors of GT's Enlightened Kombucha and Synergy products which is caffeine free but an eye opener any time of day.

Vega Reál is an awesome product. While I am a real Cavalla fan I like to switch back and forth between the two. The spicy notes in this blend just seem to fit with the fall season. I have been known to add a dash of pumpkin spice creamer to it and there you have a perfect cup of the fall season!

I just like them all. I use a french press and the grind is perfect. I sometimes combine it with ground coffee which can give it a wonderful rich flavor. Just a little heavy whipping cream (and I mean a little) turns this decadent.

This has a great flavor. One of my favorites.

I tried Crio Bru at a trade show and was skeptical until I took my first sip. Then I fell in love. Since I gave up coffee several months ago (and off and on for the past two years) I have searched for a coffee substitute. With Crio Bru, I found something infintely better than coffee. It's sweet enough to drink alone and even better with just a touch of coconut creamer and agave syrup. When I brew it, my kitchen fills with the aroma of chocolate, and it far surpases coffee in taste. It gives me a nice boost of energy without the crash I get with coffee, and I don't miss any of the other negative effects that I experience when I drink coffee, either. Thank you, Crio Bru, for this delicous drink.

I've never tasted anything like it. It was delicious. It smelled like chocolate, but tasted more like a tantalizing combination of coffee and chocolate. Very different, very good. I can't wait to try all the other flavors I bought. And your Doctor will love how good all those anti-oxidants and magnesium are for your heart and muscles, rather than all that caffeine. If you haven't tried the chocolate covered cocoa beans yet, they are awesome.

At the chocolate expo on Navy Pier, we sampled this; and, even though it was bitter when tasted without sweetener, it intrigued us enough to buy some. Since then, we drink it often in the late afternoon. A bit of sugar or sweetener softens the bitterness and one can add a dash of milk. The aroma is fragrant and delightful and the finish is like that of a fine port wine---lingering for hours!

I have tried many of the Crio flavors just since Christmas, and Vega Real is my favorite of all! I drink it straight.
